Journal Writing #3 “All lives – no matter where they are being led – have equal value” Do you agree? Are we all essentially equal? Is social inequality okay? Why or why not? Explain. To you, what does a “good” society look like?

Revisiting Social Justice Social justice is about the equal opportunity to take part in society and upholding our social values What then does social justice look like? What are our values as a society? What do we define as “good”? Do we have an obligation or duty to work toward social justice?

Pleasure or Virtue? What is the individualist argument regarding the motivations of human action? What is free-riding? Are human beings moral? Do we act based on morals or pleasure (self benefit)? Do you think we act for the greater good? What are some examples? What factors might affect our ability/desire to act morally/virtuously? Culture Social structure Social Position

Charity vs. Service According to Peter Singer, we have obligations to the poor around the world and we must fulfill those obligation through charity/giving. According to Sarah Mosole, volunteering plays a role in our society, but it must be part of a multi-pronged approach.
