Straw Electronics status and preparation for the technical run NA62 workshop Siena

Contents Web circuits HV for webs Covers LV – Power supply – Patch panel HV – Power supply – Patch panel – Connectors and cables Readout Racks

Webs New web with improved pads and layout for coaxial HV cable – Pigtail with miniature HV LEMO should be assembled before mounting on the chamber – HV filter moved on the web – HV is now passing through cover using HV pass-through connector without connecting to cover ground 8 pieces of each type are now in assembly workshop – Ready in a week 32 pieces of each type in production – Ready end of September

Webs on module 0 Older type – Must be assembled for new HV connector and coax cable – What about HV filter ‘hanging’ in the air? – We have 10 samples of HV pigtails but with thicker coax cable (5mm instead of 3 mm) Mount them on module 0 – Lab? – ECN3 ? » Need correct working place

Cover New cover design now in review – The modification of LV power supply connector. – Move of tracks shorted by screws’ head. – Move of writings on seal area. – Replacement of PT1000 0603 package with 0805. – Removal of HV components. – Addition of hole for HV LEMO connector. – Move of gas connector. – Removal of SPI/I2C jumper, direct connection to the correct potential. – Removal of R26 and R29. – Improvement of ground plane around CH7. – Move of DAC output vias around CH15 protection resistor. Not included in new design – Doubling FPGA outputs to increase cable length between chamber and rack – Not so simple modification Will order 10 of each type Components ordered For technical run we will use 6 of each (we can read 12 boards using all SRBs)

LV power supply New version of MPOD in September Tests in ESE If OK, could be used in Technical run – If not, we use standard LVPS LV patch panels – produced and tested – 4 pieces

HV power supply and Patch panel MPOD (as for LV) if ready – If not, standard HV PS HV patch panel designed HV relay tested – 150mT without shield – ~450mT with shield – Direction dependent – Consider PCB mounted version replaced by wire soldering version

HV connectors ALL connectors are now HV industrial from LEMO Pass-through vacuum tight connector mounted on cover HV filter moved from cover to web Pigtail with miniature right-angle connector mounted on webs Order placed First 32 pigtails with preferred delivery time beginning of October

Readout We have 3 SRBs – Capable of reading 12 covers – NIM, LVDS and optical inputs interface to external world – NIM used during testbeam to synchronise with SPS and Micromegas Technical run – Use optical input to synchronize with other detectors – The same principle as for the testbeam SOB resets timing counters to ‘0’, resets data buffers and enables TDC measurement – SOB is crucial for synchronization with others EOB disables TDC measurement Data written to files with time stamp Possible to use PC emulating TEL62 TEL62 mezzanine for final application to interface to ‘standard’ DAQ – Probably not ready for the technical run Need to repair material broken at the dry run – 1 SRB with broken FPGA – 1 SRB with broken optical connector – 1 cover with broken ethernet connector and damaged PCB – already repaired
