National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers The Maryland Technology Consortium has developed Maryland Teacher Technology Standards, technology outcomes and indicators that all teacher candidates will need to achieve prior to graduation. Maryland Technology Standards Effective teachers model and apply the National Educational Technology Standards for Students as they design, implement and assess learning experiences to engage students and improve learning; enrich professional practice; and provide positive models for students, colleagues, and the community.

3. Compare Professional growth Both require teachers to track their progress and professional goals in order to fully evaluate their teaching styles. Responsibility Both emphasize the importance to educate students on the dangers of technology. Communication Both make it easier for teachers to communicate to students, faculty, parents, and all members of the community. Information Both provide children with the necessary tools to help them successfully use technology inside of the classroom.

4. Contrast MTTS Only followed by teachers in the state of Maryland. Students must acquire these skills before graduation. Has a standard dedicated to assistive technology. NES*T Followed by all teachers in the United States. Has a standard dedicated to inspiring creativity in students.

5. Maryland Technology Standards Standard I: Technology Information Access, Evaluation, Processing, Application. Allows students to efficiently retrieve, store and organize information located by using technology. Standard II: Communication Gives students multiple ways to communicate with their peers, teachers, and parents. Standard III: Legal, Social, Ethical issues Helps students understand the questionable practices that are often used while using technology in the classroom. Standard IV: Assessment for Administration and Instruction Uses spreadsheets, tables, and graphs to share their research with others in their community.

6. Maryland Technology Standards Standard V: Integrating technology into the curriculum and Instruction This allows the teacher to have a scheduled time of when they are going to use technology in the classroom and utilize the technology in a beneficial manner. Standard VI: Assistive Technologies Allows students with disabilities to take advantage of the technology surrounding them to further their education. Standard VII: Professional Growth Allows the teacher to accumulate resources, identify strengths/weaknesses, and define goals to be reached in their future teachings.

National Education Technology Standards and Performance Indicators for Teachers Standard I: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity Help students reach into their “creative side” and explore new means of education. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments By individualizing the assignments, students will be more interested in the work and be able to set their own educational goals. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning Teachers are able to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleges and share educational information within the community.

National Education Technology Standards and Performance Indicators for Teachers Standard IV: Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility Helps students understand the safe way to use technology and explain the dangers and misconceptions commonly associated with the internet. Standard V: Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership Allows teachers to improve their professional practice throughout their career.

9. Conclusion Technology integration in the classroom is crucial for all students. Having standards and outcomes benefits students Following these standards guarantees that the instructors are teaching the correct material. Providing clear and appropriate expectations for students allows them to fully reach the point that they must be in order to become technology literate
