3 Charge to the Committee: First Phase – Summer 2010 : Review background information on the academic, administrative and fiscal implications that a calendar conversion would entail. The committee should communicate with the other quarter-based CSU campuses in order to coordinate efforts and share information. Compile reasons for and against converting from a quarter-based to a semester- based calendar without advocating. Prepare a FAQ document addressing a potential conversion to a semester system. Prepare surveys for faculty, staff and students that can be administered in the Fall Quarter. Plan a series of town hall meetings to be held during Fall Quarter 2010.

5 Report (continued) Meet tomorrow (7/22) to review FAQ answers Possibly will establish four subcommittees: FAQ completion: final revisions, formatting, documentation PRO: to make a strong argument for conversion to semesters CON: to make a strong argument against conversion to semesters Survey development: determine objectives of surveys and plan Town Hall meetings in Fall.
