2 RANKINGS Important tasks: 1) Goals of evaluation - science, incoming students (education) 2)Weight of indices - publications 3)Collection of correct data - quality and quantity 4)Presentation of the results Differences: large vs. small institutions pure science vs. science-learing peer-review vs. data based on IF publications differences of IF between specialties (weighted mean) etc.

3 RANKINGS THES, Academic Ranking of World Universities Problems: - bibliometry - reduction of university tasks only to research publications - reduction to quantitative measures - results related to the whole institution and not to one academician - standardization of different faculties within university (medicine, natural sciences, humanities)
