3 Student Behaviors 1. Be prepared  You are to bring your AGENDA, Your Red Folder AND YOUR SPIRAL NOTEBOOK EVERY DAY.  You are to buy a composition book. This is for your QOD and is to be left in class. 2. Be ready to learn when class begins.  QOD – Quotes of the day – this is the first thing you will do in class every day – time is limited, you have 5 minutes to complete the QOD.  All QOD should be at least 3-5 sentences. You can write more if you wish and if time permits.

4 Student Incentives 1.What you Can Win 1.MI – Missing Assignment (I=incomplete) counts as a Zero. A Zero can bring down your grade tremendously (100\0= 50F) 2.5 Points – 5 Extra points on the Next Exam – you can get up to 15 points of exams given by Lash. 3.LLP – Lollipop – See rules below 2.Treats – I never want to see wrappers or sticks on the ground in my class or in the Hallway. Only eat the candy in my class. If you don’t eat it in class save, it for after school.

5 Responsibility for Coursework Be responsible and autonomous (responsible for your self) Participation, Effort and Attitude are counted as part of your grade. Have an opinion. I don’t care if you agree or disagree with me as long as you have an opinion. Know due dates, and submit all coursework on time. All QOD and Homework assignments will be posted on the bulletin board.

6 Show Respect I like to have fun. Remember there is a time and place for everything. When it is time to concentrate, I expect you to concentrate. When I want the class quite I will announce Going Once, Going Twice, Going Three times. If you are talking after the third warning you will get a lunch detention Honor the ideas and opinions of others – Never ridicule a student for an answer he or she has given. Do not speak while the teacher or other students are talking. Offer to help. What you give is what you get. Help others and help will be there when you need it. Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values

7 Show Respect CONSEQUENCES  Lunch Detention  Time out from class – Extra Work  After School Detention  Call home to parent or guardian  Referral to administrator You will get in trouble from Mr. Lash for the following.  If you disrespect another student Name calling even if playing Harassing, bullying  If you are late (after lunch, have 2 minutes after Mr. Lash gets to class)  Cussing, Swearing, any type of foul language

8 Student Behaviors Be prompt – On Time Group Activities – We will often work in groups. Understand when it is time to discuss with classmates and when it is time to listen Going once, Going Twice, Going Three Times Be a polite and positive participant - Be a problem solver  Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate. 9 Promote Lifelong Learning You can develop lifelong learning traits: Critically Think  By showing curiosity about human nature and how the world works.  By seeking and valuing diversity.  By persisting in seeking out new solutions.  By using your unique talents and intelligence to promote positive change.  By learning and applying technology tools to solve problems.

10 Policies Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom. Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time. Absences  All a.  Each absence has a one-day grace period.

11 Grading Grades are based on the accumulation of points. Points are based on:  Class participation (effort) and attitude  Completion of assignments (daily work)  Major projects, exams, and self-reflection Grades are posted online and updated every Thursday. Our Grading Scale 90-100% = A 80-89% = B 70-79% = C 60-69% = D Below 60% = F Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage and are rounded up whenever possible.

12 My Pledge to Students Learning is a participatory activity. You have to engage yourself and be active. I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. I will work with you to meet learning goals. I will offer extra help when you need it.
