6 The Catholic Diocese of Maralal Case study Samburu district of Northern Kenya is an area where there was deep rooted animosity between the tribes of the Samburu and Pokot. At its peak, on average every month 71 people were killed during armed cattle raids. The Catholic Diocese of Maralal has been working to ease tensions in the region. E.G. initiating a road construction activity to enable people to get their goods to market more easily and encourage the tribes to trade with each other. www.respond.org fundraising@respond.org

7 The Catholic Diocese of Maralal Case study RTC and the Catholic Diocese of Maralal, analysed the situation. The road itself made people feel more vulnerable to stock theft or attack. With the support of RTC work has now been able to successfully restart.
