2 What Is It? Discovery Education’s unitedstreaming is a digital video-based learning resource from Discovery Education. It is the largest and most current K-12 digital video/video segment library available. It is a standards-based video-on-demand application, which has shown to increase student achievement. Educators have access to 50,000 content-specific segments from 5,000 full-length educational videos. More than half the schools across the United States use unitedstreaming.

3 Features Teachers can access high quality producers-- including Discovery School, United Learning, Scholastic, Standards Deviants, and Weston Woods. Videos are organized by subject and grade level. There is a curriculum standards search that allows teachers to find videos that correspond to each standard of a particular state. State-of-the-Art Professional Development sessions for online and onsite support. It includes a teacher center to manage classroom instruction.

4 Features (continued) Teachers can save videos, quizzes, assignments, etc. in their own personal “My Content” area. Teacher’s guides and blackline masters/worksheets accompany videos. Videos are available in Spanish and closed captioning. Includes extensive clip art gallery and encyclopedia articles.

5 Teacher Center The assignment builder allows teachers to assign online activities and web-based projects that are stored on the unitedstreaming servers. The calendar allows teachers to connect the past to the present with video content of events that happened on a particular day, week, and/or month. The Discovery Atlas Interactive Map allows students and teachers to search for videos pertaining to countries they are studying. The Discovery Educator Network allows for collaboration with fellow Discovery Educators.

6 Teacher Center (continued) The Lesson Plan Library has lesson plans integrating unitedstreaming videos into various subject areas. The Quiz Builder allows teachers to create their own quizzes or access pre-made quizzes. The Writing Prompt Builder allows teachers to create their own writing prompts or access pre-made writing prompts.

7 Integrating United Streaming Excellent resource for grades K-12. United Streaming provides 50 ways to integrate unitedstreaming into your curriculum. Integration ideas can be implemented with all aspects of your daily routine and curriculum. Some examples: journaling, reading support, current events, graphic organizers, morning work, hands-on math, etc.

9 Cons Cost: Schools must purchase a subscription in order for teachers to use unitedstreaming. Families of home schooled students must purchase a subscription as well. Online assignments are limited to what is available on the unitedstreaming servers. Computer and internet access are a necessity. Training is suggested for new users.
