Is Not Life More Than Food And Clothing? Matthew 6:25-34

A Question About Trust “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; not for your body, as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing?” What if you got everything that you ever wanted? What would you have? Would you be satisfied?

The Roger Kirven Story Created and built six companies into a thriving enterprise. Created and built six companies into a thriving enterprise. 5 Anxiety and the Pursuit of Life, Food, and Clothing  A full refrigerator, but “nothing to eat”.  A full closet, but “nothing to wear”.  A full schedule of activities, but “nothing to do”. What a waste!

The Nature and Character of God “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?” What God creates…He provides for.

The Nature And Character of God “And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life’s span?” “And in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.”Psalm 139:16 “…making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”Ephesians 5:16 What God creates… He sustains until its end.

The Nature and Character of God “And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil or spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith?” What God creates… He displays for others to see.

A Life of Trust “Do not be anxious then, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘With what shall we clothe ourselves?’ For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.”

“Of course, we do not use the word “cool” to describe true greatness. It is a small word. That’s the point. It’s cheap. And it’s what millions of young people live for. Who confronts them with urgency and tears? Who takes them by the collar, so to speak, and loves them enough to show them a life so radical and so real and so costly and Christ- saturated that they feel the emptiness and triviality of their CD collection and their pointless conversations about passing celebrities? Who will waken what lies latent in their souls, untapped—a longing not to waste their lives?” -John Piper

“and all these things shall be added to you” He will supply everything you need. He will supply everything you need. How much food, clothing, and life is needed? How much food, clothing, and life is needed? NEEDED FOR WHAT? NEEDED FOR WHAT? Our comfort? Our comfort? To avoid suffering or shame? To avoid suffering or shame? To spare us from death? To spare us from death? You will have everything you need to do His will. You will have everything you need to do His will.

A Life of Trust “Therefore, do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
