Newsroom workflow

After you have created your content, edited it and sent it online, it is time to get it to Design House. There are four things you must do to get your articles to Design House: 1. CREATE A COPY of an article 2. Add PRIORITIES and PAGE SUGGESTIONS 3. Write a NOTE TO DESIGN HOUSE 4. Change workflow status of articles to TO DESIGN HOUSE

Newsroom workflow 1. CREATE A COPY of an article IMPORTANT: You must copy the article from within a story package window! If you don't, the article copy will be created outside of the story package. - Select the article you wish to make a copy of. - Open the Properties box. Select the item and choose Properties from the toolbar. - Add "_print" at the end of the title in the name field. - Choose Copy at the bottom of the box.

Newsroom workflow 2. Add PRIORITIES and PAGE SUGGESTIONS IMPORTANT: Priorities and page suggestions are added to the story package, not the article. PRIORITY >> Select the story package you want to set the page priority of. >> Right click on the item and choose Priority >> Choose the appropriate priority PAGE SUGGESTION >> Match it to your budget. >> Select the story package & open properties box. >> Underneath Page Sugg., write the suggested page number for the item.

Newsroom workflow 3. Write NOTE TO DESIGN HOUSE Communicate page placement, front page suggestions, story importance and any other necessary information for the Design House in your note. - Create story package called NOTE TO DESIGN HOUSE. - In article, include budget and notes for the day. - Select NOTE TO DESIGN HOUSE as the category.

Newsroom workflow 4. Change workflow status of articles to TO DESIGN HOUSE >> Select the item in a story package that you want to send to Design House. Right click the item and select Workflow Status. Choose To Design House. >> You cannot change the workflow status of the story package or other planning elements. You can only change the status of articles. IMPORTANT: ONCE YOU CHANGE THE WORKFLOW STATUS TO TO DESIGN HOUSE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS IT AGAIN.

Sharing content USING CHANNELS TO SHARE CONTENT Channels are used to sort and send content to different locations. Channels cannot be used on plan elements (story packages and photo requests). They can only be used on articles and other items that are created as a part of a story package. Users will have a default channel attached to their username and actions in MWC. For instance, if you work in Rockford and you create an article, the channel will default to IL_Rockford.

Sharing Getting content THE WEEK BEFORE YOUR LAUNCH … - Create a new story package and article every day. Send that article to Design House following the rules. - Send as much “real” content as you can before your launch date. -If you send test content, make sure to label it “test”. - Design House will check test content and change the workflow status to Edited by Design House.
