8 Domino Theory The domino theory was a popular theory from the 1950s to the 1980s, that guessed that if one state in a region came under the influence of communism, then the surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect.

I felt certain that if South Korea was allowed to fall communist leaders would be emboldened to override nations closer to our own shores.
