2 FAST FOOD Fast food is the term given to food that can be prepared and served very quickly. The first McDonald's restaurant opened in 1948. American sales of fast food totaled $163.5 billion in 2005 Protesters have accused McDonald's and other food chains of selling unhealthy food, marketing aggressively to children and undermining local values and culture.

3 MASS PRODUCTION The food is created in a factory then frozen and sent to restaurants in large walk- in freezers. The factory adds artificial and natural flavors to the food to make sure it all tastes the same. These flavors are manufactured in separate factories.
