3 How High School Works  You are scheduled in 6 classes each semester  You earn 5 credits for each class you successfully complete each semester  Semester grades become part of your official transcript

4 Three Keys For Success  Attend daily (Be on time and ready to learn)  Complete all class work and turn it in ON TIME !  Complete all homework and turn it in ON TIME

5 Attendance  Impacts individual learning, overall school performance and can put graduation at risk  Impacts the larger classroom environment and school community  Parent/Guardian has 3 days to clear an attendance  Compulsory Education in California  Intervention for serious attendance concerns is via SARB: School Attendance Review Board

7  California High School Exit Exam Given Fall/Spring Two parts:  Math Section  English Section  Passing Score: 350 on each section CAHSEE support classes are required of those who have not passed one or both sections of the exam Will be taken for the first time spring of sophomore year

8 How can I be successful?  Use an agenda/planner  Manage your time  Be organized  Take good notes  Study smart  Utilize weekly progress reports  Establish a 4-year plan  Ask questions

9 Where do I go if I need help?  Ask your teacher  Homework Club Monday through Thursday after school in the Career Center from 2:45 – 3:45 and Friday mornings 7:45 – 8:45 Private tutoring available upon request (talk to your counselor)

10 Credit Recovery  Summer school  Adult school  Community college (2.5 gpa and complete 10 th grade)  ROP (16 years of age or 11 th grade)  Work Experience SEATS ARE VERY LIMITED
