3 Course Description zA survey of computers and their applications in society. Topics covered include: database applications and implications, telecommunications and networking, artificial intelligence, graphics, hypermedia, and multimedia. Computers at work, at home, and at schools. Computer security, and risks. An out- look on computers current and future impacts on individuals, business, and society as a whole.

4 Course Objectives zIntroducing the non CIS major students to the field of information technology and its many uses and benefits as they apply to days fast moving business world.

8 Attendance Policies zStudents that regularly come to class 10 minutes late will be marked absent. zStudents that are regularly absent will be given DN warnings. (See DN Warning Flyer). zGoing out of the class is not accepted.

9 Other Policies zCourse website should be checked regularly. zStudents should read from the textbook.

10 Assignments and Participation (10%) zAssignments must be submitted before deadline otherwise it wont be accepted. zassignments must be completed individually by each student otherwise -1 will be given for all copies or all similar assignments. zRead carefully the assignment policy and regulations. zStudents must regularly come to class to participate in class activities and discussions

11 Quizzes (10%) zNo makeup quizzes even if the student has an excuse.

12 Major Exams (40%) zEach major exam is worth 20%. zIf a student misses a major exam she should get an excuse from student affairs at first. zIF this excuse is accepted by the course instructor the makeup exam will cover all topics taught by the teacher till makeup date. So makeup exam will cover more material than original exam.

13 Finals (40%) zFinal exam is worth 40%. The final exam will include all the chapters discussed during the term.
