Desiring to Save Your Life For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. (Luke 9:24)
2
Luke 9:23-26 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.”

Desiring to Save Your Life Living for yourself will not save your life (Luke 9:23; Proverbs 14:12)
4
Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
5
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. Living a life of self-will... doing what you think is right... Or what you want to do... Is a life leading to destruction.

Desiring to Save Your Life Living for yourself will not save your life (Luke 9:23; Proverbs 14:12) Living for materialism will not save your life (Luke 9:25; 12:15-21; 1 Timothy 6:17-19)
7
Luke 9:25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?
8
Luke 12:15-21 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” 16 Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. 17 And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ 18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ 21 So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

1 Timothy 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Desiring to Save Your Life Living for yourself will not save your life (Luke 9:23; Proverbs 14:12) Living for materialism will not save your life (Luke 9:25; 12:15-21; 1 Timothy 6:17-19) Living to please others will not save your life (Luke 9:26; Matthew 10:28, 32-33)
11
Luke 9:26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. Fear of what others might think may keep us from proclaiming our faith in God.
12
Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
13
Matthew 10:32-33 Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. We must proclaim our faith, no matter the consequence!

Desiring to Save Your Life Living for yourself will not save your life (Luke 9:23; Proverbs 14:12) Living for materialism will not save your life (Luke 9:25; 12:15-21; 1 Timothy 6:17-19) Living to please others will not save your life (Luke 9:26; Matthew 10:28, 32-33) Live to please God! (Luke 9:23; John 8:29; 2 Corinthians 5:6-9; 1 John 2:3-5)
15
Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
16
John 8:29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him. In seeking to please God, we follow the good example of Jesus Himself
17
2 Corinthians 5:6-9 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.
18
1 John 2:3-5 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
19
How Do You Save Your Life? The means of gaining life eternal is through self-denial. Read Matthew 7:21-23 in the context of self-Denial
20
Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?” 23 And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”
