Due to the removal of the property requirement in all but two states, the electorate grew by more than 800,000 from the previous presidential election In 1824, one-quarter of the electorate had voted In 1828, more than half of the electorate had voted Party Machinery This was the first campaign/election in which political parties organized to promote their candidate Local network of newspapers devoted to the party Ensured voters went to polls on election day

Like the election of 1800, the election of featured nasty accusations and rumors Jackson portrayed as Adulterer (Jackson believed this led to death of his wife, Rachel) Murder Execution of army deserter Dueling Adams portrayed as A pimp Too intellectual Using government funds to purchase billiards table for White House Vote for Andrew Jackson who can fight, not John Quincy Adams who can write.
