2 Pulaski County Special School District Discipline Management Plan 2 Goal of the DMP A basic goal of the District-Wide Discipline Management Plan (DMP) is to reduce the number of Level I, Rule 101 infractions. The DMP:  Level I, Rule 1 referrals decreased from 5212 in 2007-2008 to 4452 in 2008-2009.  The DMP was revised during the 2005-2006 school year through a collaborative effort of a committee consisting of PCSSD administrators, PACT, PASS, ODM and Joshua Intervenors. All rules contained in the Parent/Student Handbook, for Student Conduct and Discipline other than Level I, Rule 101. For example:  Defiant Behavior (Rule 102, PCSSD Student Handbook)  Harassment (Rule 108, PCSSD Student Handbook)

4 Pulaski County Special School District Discipline Management Plan 4 Students shall comply with reasonable instructions from administrators, teachers, instructional assistants, school bus drivers or any authorized school district employee. After the teacher has followed the DMP, and the student still does not comply with any school personnel, then the following consequences will be followed. a. Parent/Administrator conference b. D-Hall/SAC – 1 day c. SAC – 2 days d. Suspension – 2 days (Develop Behavior Plan) e. Suspension – 4 days and probation f. 6 Pulaski County Special School District Discipline Management Plan 6 First Things First On the first day of school, the staff will share with students:  Copy of all rules and consequences to students and parents  Clear and reasonable expectations  “Do’s” and “Do nots” regarding behavior  Rules and consequences for rule infractions Pulaski County Special School District Discipline Management Plan

7 Pulaski County Special School District Discipline Management Plan 7 First Things First continued…  Explanation and discussion of the rationale for each rule  Clear examples of appropriate and inappropriate behavior related to each rule, and direct teaching of appropriate behavior if necessary  Ensure consistency with the PCSSD Parent/Student Handbook for Student Conduct and Discipline  Frequent reminders of rules and expected behavior
