7 NSS-MIC 2010: Knoxville, TN

8 2010 NSS MIC RTSD Status Report February 2010 The January planning meeting was held 23 January in Knoxville. The food and beverage contracts were agreed with the Knoxville Convention Center (KCC). One or two events may be held offsite and contracts were obtained for these events. The review of the space and the meeting requirements (keeping in mind the comments from the 2009 CIP questionnaire) showed that we may need more space, especially for posters. In addition, the rules for poster placement in the KCC have changed since the original planning. To keep the meeting all in one building, an additional 49k ft 2 room has been reserved. The Technical Program Chairs have proposed plenary and invited speakers, who are being contacted and invited. Approximately xx booths have been sold. Fund raising is continuing. Contributions have already been received from DOE and Siemens. It is expected that a high level of student support will be available. The companion tours were almost completely organized, but a contract was not signed because an agreement in the terms could not be reached. A new company has been located and a contract with them is under review and is expected to be signed shortly. The final call for papers was mailed. US Domestic was sent non-profit rate and international was sent first class. The delivery time for international was over 5 weeks. The long delivery time is being investigated. The hotel reservation website is open. Included on this page is information about the local area and transportation from the airport. The abstract submission and registration software is being modified and will be posted to the website when available. The Technical Chairs will meet in Knoxville in June to finalize the program.
