4. The air and us… Our lungs inhale over 2,000 gallons of air per day. We take about 23,000 breaths per day. The surface area inside our lungs is about the same as a tennis court.

5. The air and us… Our lungs are the only internal organs that are directly exposed to the environment. A person can live without: –food for about 30 days, –water for about 3 days, –air about 3 minutes !
