Cindy Collins ETEC 665 Why an Application Package? The application package is an electronic file that contains all the necessary forms that comprise a complete grant application for a specific funding opportunity. The application package can be saved to your computer and completed off-line. This package is a stand- alone file, not a web based database record. All information for submission is either entered on the forms or uploaded for submission as one file.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 Complete The Application – Step 2 Opening Page of Application Package Note that information about the particular solicitation is filled in automatically.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? Always refer to the instructions as you complete the package. Also note that agency contact information is included on the opening page of the application package.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? All yellow fields are mandatory. Highlight a form and select Open Form.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? Note there may be Mandatory Documents and Optional Documents Required

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? Some sections require that you actually type the information on the form, such as the SF 424. Note mandatory yellow fields.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? Be sure to check the top of each page for the Next button. This allows you to continue to the next page of the form.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? Some sections require that you attach PDF files. Again note mandatory yellow fields.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? Once you complete a document, use the Move Form to Submission List button to move the document from the left side to the right side (Completed Documents for Submission)

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? Save your work frequently! Closing the forms alone will not automatically save the information. If you get a warning message about an invalid value, just click OKAY.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 How Do I Complete the Application Package? Once all parts of the package have been completed and all forms have been moved to the Mandatory Completed Documents for Submission side, you can use the Check Package for Errors button to identify any omissions before you submit.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 Submit the Application – Step 3 Once your package is error free, you will need to submit the PureEdge Viewer file to OSRP or the authorized representative of your institution. Official submission of your application must be through that office.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 What Happens Next? Tracking Once your package has been submitted to Grants.gov, OSRP (or the authorized agency representative) receives e-mails regarding the submission.  The first e-mail confirms receipt of the application by Grants.gov.  The second confirms validation by Grants.gov.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 What Happens Next? Tracking  The third confirms receipt of the application by the Sponsor.  Subsequent e-mails may be sent by the Sponsor regarding tracking through the Sponsor’s system.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 What Happens Next? Tracking If there is a problem with the application, such as an incorrect DUNS number, the application will be rejected at the first stage and must be resubmitted to Grants.gov. Also, keep in mind that Grants.gov may validate receipt of an application, but the agency can still reject because of errors.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 TIPS for Using Grants.Gov Read both the agency and the Grants.Gov instructions. If there are conflicting instructions, contact the agency program officer. Start the submission process EARLY. This allows extra time so that errors can be corrected for resubmission before the deadline if necessary.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 TIPS for Using Grants.Gov Complete the SF424 (R&R) form FIRST as it populates information to other forms. Attached files should be in PDF format and should use names without spaces, hyphens, special characters, or long file names.

Cindy Collins ETEC 665 TIPS for Using Grants.Gov PureEdge Viewer works best with Internet Explorer. Save your application file often and check file name and location. Often times, a new version of the file will be saved rather than an updated version. Multiple versions can be confusing.
