3 Local/Division: Gibbs Symposium Led by Dr. Ken Fivizzani Gibbs award sponsored by Chicago Section since 1911 Commemorated 100th year & IYC with two half-day symposia & a reception at ACS Meeting in Denver, summer 2011 Coordinated with several National divisions: HIST, COLL, COMSCI, I&EC, INORG, ORGN, PETR, PHYS Of 27 living Medalists, 11 came to give presentations Reception co-sponsored by Chicago Section, COLL, I&EC, and PHYS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willard_Gibbs_Award

4 WCC: Girl Scout Patch Led by Fran Kravitz & devoted team Motivation: Girl Scouts needed a merit badge or patch for chemistry Chicago WCC developed a program of lectures, experiments, and discussions with women chemists Coordination with Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana led to approval for patch program Funded by ACS Innovative Project Grant Named after Marie Curie 30 girls earned patches in 2011! Expanding program
