Smashed Self Portrait What you’re learning: – Drawing techniques (graphing for proportion, values, shading, realism) – Composition (how you set up your page) – About Pablo Picasso & Cubism – Creating a sense of discomfort and “unease” with imagery (engage the viewer/artist voice) – Practice not being worried if you don’t look “pretty” if it means creating an emotion within your art.

3. 1. Take your photos in 2-3 angles One will be a “smooshed” view

4. 2. Cut apart and arrange your pictures in an interesting way. COMPOSITION!!!

5. 3. Use a grid to graph the photo collage. Draw it square by square. You will NOT see the grid when you are done!!

7. Materials: Drawing pencils (Black, white, grey) Want to use color? Convince me that there’s a reason! – Consider ACCENT COLORS only. Mixed with and shading like pencil. Paper size will all be the same.
