REGIONS OF THE UNITED STATES
2
Our nation has very diverse regions. From
rocky shorelines to mountains, we live in different environments from cities to suburbs to rural areas. People from all over the world have settled into our many regions. For example, Asians have settled in the West. The Southwest and Southeast have many Hispanics. If you farm, you might live in the Midwest. If you mine, you might live in the Mountain West. Regions are described by their landforms, vegetation, and climate. They are also defined by culture and economy. Let’s look at six U.S. regions that share common features and also have unique differences. Exploring Regions diverse: different or varied

THE NORTHEAST The Northeast region includes states from
Maine to Pennsylvania. Much of the region has mountains and coastal plains. Landforms The White, the Appalachian, the Green, and the Adirondack mountain ranges tower above the land. A coastal plain runs along the Atlantic Ocean. Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, and the St. Lawrence River define the western side. Saint Lawrence River Green Mountains in Vermont
