1. Fractional Coefficients
Objective: To solve equations and inequalities involving fractional coefficients.

2. To solve an equation or an inequality having fractional coefficients it is helpful to multiply the equation by the LCD
Example: solve for x
Multiply the equation by the LCD

4. Joe can finish the class project in 10 hours and Sam can finish the same job in 8 hours. If Joe starts at 1pm and Sam helps him 2 hours later will he have time to watch his TV show at 8 pm?
Joe can finish 1/10th of the job per hour
Sam can finish 1/8th of the job per hour but starts 2 hours later

5. Joe’s work plus Sam’s work has to equal to 1(the whole job)
Joe and Sam must finish the job in less
than 7 hours. Since h is less than seven yes, he can watch his show.
