2 2 Project Summary Proposing APEC Economy –USA –Co-sponsoring Economy: To be determined Project Cost –Total Funding: $350,000 USD –APEC Funding: $200,000 USD Brief Description –Survey and assessment of land-based GNSS applications –Impact in safety, security and efficiency of surface transportation –Target surface transportation modes (rail, highway, maritime, etc.) –Benefits all APEC Economies –Promotes trade throughout APEC Economies

3 3 Project Details Goals –Enable transfer of land-based GNSS technology & applications –Increase capability and safety of transportation equipment –Strengthen cooperation among APEC Economies Key Objectives –Provide information on land-based GNSS applications  Study area: Train Control/Signaling/Supervision, Fleet Management, Passenger Information, Container Management/Tracking, Precision Airport Approach, etc.  Stakeholder Workshop –Perform assessment and analysis  Reusability  Cost benefit  Legislative and regulatory acceptance –Document 3 most promising applications  Return on investment (ROI)  Economy impact  Concept of operations  Standard requirements
