4 4 First Mn/DOT Spec Adopted in 1996 Allowed 5% recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) Allowed in wear and non-wear courses Job-by-job approval by Project Engineer required Added like recycled asphalt pavement (RAP)

5 5 Mn/DOT Spec “Guidelines” (circa 2000) On file with Bituminous Office Contaminants must be removed Certification of supply required Manufactured waste only Mn/DOT to certify suppliers

6 6 Mn/DOT specification 2360/2350 – 5% manufacturers RAS allowed- approval now permissive (2004 spec change) Virgin asphalt binder must be 70% or greater of total in HMA (2006 spec change) Spec Implementation
