2. One District…One Dream Goal: Riverside Elementary School will meet the Fundamental Practice Level or above in the critical element of Emotional Safety from the Safe and Nurturing Schools domain.

3. NEEDS ASSESSMENT In 2009-2010, Riverside Elementary attained a score of minimal practices in Emotional Safety. Emotional Safety was simply defined as feeling safe at school. Emotional Safety will now be defined as school culture embracing each individual. The school culture actively seeks additional methods to support emotional safety of each individual and to promote dignity and respect for all.

4. Implementation Strategies 2010-11 PBS revamped by Leadership Team with critical input from student leaders as well as a teacher sub-committee to include rewards incentives in short term celebrations for all students and faculty. ESD forms utilized to provide interventions and parent contact documentation by teachers, updated teacher websites, school newsletter with strategies for emotional safety at school and home Homework Hotline developed and in place for parents and students, support resources through Region 6 and Louisiana Promise Staff Development through Peer Connection, using Whole Brain Strategies, book studies using the books “Motivating Students Who Don’t Care” and “Yardsticks”.
