7 COMMUNITY INDICATORS CONSORTIUM Integrating Community Indicators And Performance Measures 7 The Real Story…How Washoe County integrates QoL Indicators l County Commission uses CI’s in strategic planning  establish strategic priorities important to our citizens l Departments use CI’s to identify the purpose of their units  measurable & auditable through outcomes achieved, rather than just services provided l Departments set annual objectives & “metrics” to measure success  often CI’s

8 COMMUNITY INDICATORS CONSORTIUM Integrating Community Indicators And Performance Measures 8 The Real Story…How Washoe County integrates QoL Indicators… l Management sets annual performance targets—including benchmarks compared to prior years/other jurisdictions/agencies l Budgets are developed to achieve objectives l Managers monitor performance & adjust resources allocation l TMT uses the PM’s in tracking the CI’s & reporting quality of life  /  over time
