How does the protagonist overcome these obstacles? What is the Climax? What Lessons do children learn from this book? What are some interesting examples of Stylistic Devices the author uses to engage readers? As Ms. Kosari reads the storybook aloud, fill in the following information in the chart below:

4 Recall your favorite children's story, book, tale, fairy tale... What happens in the story? Why do you like it?

5 What lesson(s) does this story teach children?

6 What are some memorable lines, events, characters, illustrations, etc.?

7 Who is your all time favorite children story character? Why?

8 Brainstorming… Brainstorm 3 questions kids ask or want to know the answers to. Consider both scientific, historic, and social phenomenon, such as why did dinosaurs become extinct? Who built the pyramids?

9 Brainstorm at least 3 things kids don't like to do and imagine what kind of story you can tell to encourage, persuade, or excite them to do it. Write a couple sentences describing each.

10 List 5 (at least two should be talking animals, objects, or non humans) in some children's stories, cartoons, or movies you grew up with. For each write down a few words describing the qualities they possess. For example: Woody brave, rational, empathetic leader

11 Pick an animal and put clothes on it. Describe the clothing in detail. Give the animal a symbolic name or one using alliteration.

12 Now place this animal in an unexpected setting A specific location (city/country, place) A specific time (past decade/era/historical period, the present, or future)

14 Now place this object in an unexpected setting A specific location (city/country, place) A specific time (past decade/era/historical period, the present, or future) EXAMPLE: Rock Bottom- a deep sea trench located beneath Bikini Bottom. Everything is pitch black except for a few street lights.
