4 Parents are the most influential! 4 You set the guidelines and rules. –Know that this shows love. –Know that silence means permission in most instances…

5 The sixth commandment: You shall not commit adultery 4 The origin of sex and marriage 4 God created both male and female. Genesis 2:18-24 God created male and female for marriage/ mutual benefit …Very Good… A precious blessing from God

6 God’s purpose for marriage 4 One purpose for marriage is: loving companionship and helpfulness. 4 A second purpose for marriage is: a God- pleasing sexual union. 4 A third purpose for marriage is: to bear children and provide for them.

7 Protecting God’s gift of sex and marriage You shall not commit adultery = don’t spoil God’s gift of sex and marriage. Don’t wreck it for your future spouse!

8 Christians will not… Ephesians 5:1-8 Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 1.Commit fornication (sexual relations between unmarried people) 2.Use the gift of sex in the wrong way (obscenity, pornography). 3.Tell or listen to unclean jokes. 4.Love unclean thoughts. 5.Thoughtlessly plan to marry an unbeliever (I Cor. 7)

9 The family worshipping the Lord together is a blessing. Consider… 4 If both father and mother attend church regularly – 72% of their children remain faithful in attendance. 4 If only dad attends regularly – 55% remain faithful. 4 If only mom attends regularly – 15% remain faithful. 4 If neither mom nor dad attends regularly – only 6% remain faithful.

10 After marriage Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Nor will they Use sex outside of marriage love unclean thoughts or words

16 Christians will… Romans 7:2-3 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man. 3. Be faithful in marriage until death.

17 Christians will… I Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 4. Try to build a Christ-centered home. 5. Remember that their body is God’s temple and therefore glorify God in their body also.
