2 “SWEET HOME CHICAGO” South Loop Elementary School Guillermo Delgado Guest Artist Melissa Holbert, The Smart Museum of Art Ms. Chan 3 rd Grade Teacher Ms. Mitchell Visual Art Teacher Ms. Oshen Music Teacher Students in Ms. Chan’s 3 rd grade class will research historical decades (1900 – present) and will produce a large scale mixed media timeline of Chicago cultural history. 4 What exciting things happened? Harold Washington was the first African American Mayor, it doesn’t matter what color you are? What did you do to try to answer your question? Research, think about it and answered it and thought about it and answered it some more. 5 It was fun, we really got to learn about places and history and about famous people in Chicago. Kendra Making the artwork was fun, I learned how to make collage. Placing the tissue paper on the canvass was kind of tricky. The glue got sticky and the paper wrinkled. Jabreal I got to work by myself and no one tried to bother me while I worked on my project. Malakye My best part of the project was covering the canvass with tissue paper, and using the Liqitex. I was something I never done before.
