Introduction Today we will be talking about, The Modernization of Japan, Politics, The Economy, And to finish it all off we have an interactive component, but first critical question

Critical question In what ways did changes resulting from isolation in the Edo period compare to changes resulting from adaptation in the Meiji period? Not only will we answer the question but we will also talk about all change in the two periods of Japan

The modernization of Japan page 184 In 1868 Yoshida had an idea to modernize Japan to stop the western powers from taking over in the future He changed there economy and there but technology with that came there culture And that was just the start of the Meiji period

The Meiji period page 187 The meiji period was from 1868 to 1912 this period lead to the restoration of iperial rule This period started a raped movement for a industrial revolution and it started the true beginning of modern Japan

The Meiji period continued page 185 and 194 In 1868 they also Decided to move there capital to the center of Japan to have a better rule on the people But with new technology and new ideas coming from outsider they had to let them in to there country and this drastically changed there world

Economy page 199 Westerner helped a lot with the Japanese economy by putting in new industries. These new industries include gun powder silk and many other things Without the money from these new industries in Japan wouldn't have been able to win any of the wars they fought it

Politics page 207 Even through Japan still had rule over its people so much had changed from the Edo period. The farmers could own there own land, the samurai didn’t get allowances and weren't allowed to use their sword. and last but not least the rule couldn’t even get money from his own domains.

Rebuilding of Japan page 213 Unlike the Meiji period the citizens changed there world view. They believed that to find true success you had to succeed in your own life unlike the Edo period were they wanted to succeed as a group and not and individual

Summary Everything that happed in the Edo period happened because of there culture there way of life or there religion but not in the Meiji period. Things happened in that period because of wealth and power and that’s what helped shape modern Japan
