3 Subject, object and goal of the research Subject: Gender wage gap in Russia and in Germany Object: Employed population in the age of 15-65 in Russia and Germany. The goal of the investigation is to reveal gender wage gap in Russia and Germany and to compare Russia and Germany.

4 Theoretical basis Neoclassical approach: theory of segregation on labor market, conception of human capital. Sociological approach (explanation of gender inequality by means of existing of the established system of gender roles).

6 Research tasks To disclose the determinants of gender wage gap in Russia and Germany; To find out whether there is any gender wage gap in Russia and Germany; To find out factors which influence wage separately for men and women in Russia and Germany To conduct the comparative analysis of Russia and Germany.

7 Research hypotheses The average wage of women makes up under 70-80% of men one. Gender is one of the main social-demographic characteristics that exerts influence on wage gap between men and women. There are objective characteristics that have negative impact on gender wage gap: professional segregation, occupational segregation, number of working hours There are objective characteristics that have positive impact on gender wage gap: ownership of enterprise, human capital Generally, the rate of gender wage gap in Russia is higher than in Germany.

8 Methodology the dynamics of mean wages of men and women during the period of time; regression analysis to estimate wage in Russia and in Germany. The dependent variable will be wage and the independent variables will be gender, profession, industry, number of working hours, ownership of enterprise, age, education, career pattern; regression with Heckman correction; the same regression analysis separately for men and women.

9 The source of data, variables It is supposed to use RLMS data with the following variables: Gender Age Education Wage Profession Industry Number of working hours Ownership of enterprise
