6 Living Hope We Look For Security Where do we find security?
We look for security with our money, in our relationships, from our government, and in our jobs and careers. What we find is inconsistency, disappointment, and even fear. Where do we find our security? Is a lasting security reasonable? Is a guaranteed security possible? How do I remain hopeful in the midst of the chaos and insecurity in my world?

7 Living Hope Martin Luther King Jr. Hears Jesus' Promise
Charles Marsh, Welcoming Justice (IVP Books, 2009), pp ; source: Men of Integrity (January/February 2011) | posted 1/03/2011 Most people know about the passion of Martin Luther King Jr. for racial justice and nonviolent resistance. However, some people aren't as familiar with King's deep personal faith in Christ. In his book Welcoming Justice, Charles Marsh describes one of King's profound encounters with the Risen Christ. [In January 1956, Martin Luther King Jr.] returned home around midnight after a long day of organizational meetings. His wife and young daughter were already in bed, and King was eager to join them. But a threatening call—the kind of call he was getting as many as 30 to 40 times a day—interrupted his attempt to get some much-needed rest. When he tried to go back to bed, he could not shake the menacing voice that kept repeating the hateful words in his head. King got up, made a pot of coffee, and sat down at his kitchen table. With his head buried in his hands, he cried out to God. There in his kitchen in the middle of the night, when he had come to the end of strength, King met the living Christ in an experience that would carry him through the remainder of his life. "I heard the voice of Jesus saying still to fight on," King later recalled. "He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone … He promised never to leave me, no never alone.“ In the stillness of the Alabama night, the voice of Jesus proved more convincing than the threatening voice of the anonymous caller. The voice of Jesus gave him the courage to press through the tumultuous year of 1956 to the victorious end of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. More than that, it gave him a vision for ministry that would drive him for the rest of his life.

8 Living Hope & Good News Without the Resurrection there is NO:
Christianity Salvation Hope Dr. King learned to find his security in Jesus Christ, not in his circumstances, people, power, or position. His life was bombarded by chaos to the point of death, but he remained vigilant in the cause of injustice because he lived with a guaranteed hope. Why all the bad news? The Bad News is our reality of living in a world of corruption and sin. The Good News is that Jesus Christ rose from the grave on that first Easter morning. Without the Resurrection, there is no Christianity. Without the Resurrection, there is no Salvation. Without the Resurrection, we have no Hope.

9 Living Hope – 1 Peter 1:3 God’s Mercy Rebirth Living Hope
Christ’s Resurrection REBIRTH A new Spirit in order to be transformed into the likeness of Christ. His priorities and values are adopted as our own Sin and temptation may still have an effect on us, but it has lost its grip, and no longer defines us. LIVING HOPE In Ephesians, a letter written by the Apostle Paul in the NT, he writes that God’s guarantee to us is the fact that He gives us the Holy Spirit to live within us. Elsewhere in the NT, Jesus teaches that “no one can snatch you from my hand.” Our hope is not some certificate or verbal promise, but it is found in the living person of Jesus Christ , who reigns with His Father in heaven. CHRIST’S RESURRECTION Jesus had the power to defeat death and be resurrected back to life. That same power he used was used to bring hope and power to MLK, Jr. That same power is available to you and me today. As we celebrate Easter today, we are celebrating Christ’s resurrection power.
