2 Montreal Protocol (1986): Imposed specific requirements regarding production, import, and export of ozone-depleting substances Set the phasing-out of Chlorofluorocarbon (CFCs) production and Hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFCs) Negotiated international emissions of ozone-depleting substances Convention of Ozone Depletion: Acted as the framework for international efforts to protect the ozone layer Called for extensive international research of the ozone layer Called for nations and states to adopt appropriate policies for controlling ozone depletion

3 United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) This organization created a world action plan for approaching and solving the problem of ozone depletion. This organization first created the Convention of Ozone Depletion in Vienna, and then had this lead to the Montreal Protocol.
