2 What We Want Versus What Happens 90% of us believe that it’s important to discuss end of life issues with our loved ones. Only 30% do. 60% of us say that it extremely important that our family is not burdened by tough decisions. 70% of us wish to die at home, yet 70% of us die in a Nursing Home or hospital.

3 What is “The Conversation” Tragedies, such as accidents and serious illness can come at any time, at any age, and in any location or circumstance. My Story

5 Barriers to Conversation

6 Bringing Up the Subject Only you know the folks that you want to include in the conversation. Find an appropriate way of approaching them. Here are some suggestions: “I need your Help with something” “I was thinking about what happened when Uncle Joe passed” “I need to think about the future, will you help me?” “I’m OK now, but I’m concerned about what happens if I get sick”
