Depends on agricultural value of land but usually in the $600/acre range in the MS river valley. USFWS sometimes splits the costs of land acquisition since land is typically part of their conservation objectives

10 Carbon targets and costs Total project costs (land acquisition or easement), tree planting, management, carbon measuring and monitoring typically work out to be around $5.00 per ton of carbon dioxide sequestered Aboveground biomass (tree) carbon targets in the Mississippi River Valley are approximately 50 tons of carbon per acre at 60 years of age.
