1 Leadership Chickasaw Class of 2006-2007 – Leadership in Chickasaw County Leading the way for a better Chickasaw County Jan. 9, 2007 Meeting, 6:30-8:30PM

2 You Can’t Fix What You Don’t Know Getting to Know Chickasaw County Our first overall objective for our monthly meetings was getting to know our County. What looks good, what doesn’t. What works, what doesn’t. Who is doing what to make improvements. Ultimately, we are searching for an opportunity to help – THE PROJECTS.

3 Chickasaw County Challenge Assignment for October 10 th meeting  Photo Challenge – Oct. 10 Assignment In your teams, used your cameras to take pictures of Chickasaw County. Specifically, looked at Chickasaw County as a person who had never been there before. As a team, took pictures of things that (a) looked good, and (b) didn’t look so good. Idea – Your pictures were excellent! Can you imagine a calendar with those pictures – the courthouse against the blue sky; the lone fisherman at Davis Lake; the school at Houlka; the churches,? Leverage what you have to be proud of in Chickasaw County. Project – I “borrowed” ideas from your photo challenge and made Chickasaw County Christmas Cards! This represents how we (1) take a fresh look at ourselves, (2) find what matters, and (3) turn it into a tangible action.

4 Researching Chickasaw County Assignment for the Nov. 14 th meeting Teams presented information on 4 key aspects of Chickasaw County: (1) Economic Well-Being, (John Fred, Thomas, Christine, Lisa) (2) Education/Training, (Mark, Kenny, Faye, Jean) (3) Social/Physical Welfare, (Wilma, Lassie, Jason, Vicky) (4) Quality of Life, Leadership, Participation, & Citizenship. (Angela, Gerald, Phillip, Brenda) Hmmm. How can we turn this knowledge into a tangible project?...something to benefit Chickasaw County?

Who should they talk with? How could they best get this idea implemented?

10 Feb. 13 th Meeting Expanding your idea into a complete proposal  For the Feb. 13 th meeting, your team should create a complete, type- written proposal using the guidelines provided in the handout.  Now that you have stopped GROANING about the guidelines, let’s discuss them!
