2 Objectives  Encouraging students to learn about the history of the wayside shrines which are situated in the area of their municipality, as the visible remains from their villages’ history.  Ensuring students about their affiliation to their local homeland.  Developing students’ abilities related to group cooperation.

3 THE PROJECT’S DESCRIPTION The project can be accomplished within ten months. 13 and 14 year old students worked on this project. First a meeting of teachers taking part in this project took place. These were teachers of History, Polish, Geography, Maths, Art and English. During the meeting a plan including different activities related to the project’s accomplishment was written. There were also prepared instructions for students.

4 THE PROJECT’S DESCRIPTION The project was introduced to students. The students were divided into six groups (it depended on the place where they live) and each group was given a certain task to do. Each group was supposed to find all the wayside shrines in their village, take photographs of them and collect all the kinds of information about them. The photographs of the wayside shrines, together with short descriptions of them, were printed, framed and hung on the walls of our school hall, creating in this way gallery.

5 THE PROJECT’S DESCRIPTION Each of the groups were collecting information about the wayside shrines and their history. Students interviewed the local people. After that students started to prepare fragments of a guidebook about the wayside shrines of Korzenna municipality. When they finished, all the prepared by groups fragments were jointed and a whole guidebook was created.

6 THE PROJECT’S DESCRIPTION The students were to supposed to use all gathered before materials and prepare a map on which all the wayside shrines which are situated in the area of Korzenna municipality are going to be marked. The map was framed and hung on the wall in the school hall, next to the above mentioned gallery of wayside shrines. After having accomplished the project, on art competition connected with the wayside shrines was going to be introduced to students.

11 Results of the project The photos. Thanks to a sponsor whom we managed to find, the photographs of the wayside shrines, together with short descriptions of them, were printed in a professional way. The guidebook. All the prepared by groups fragments were jointed and a whole guidebook was created. The map. Students prepared the map on which all the wayside shrines were marked. The gallery. The map and photos of the wayside shrines were framed and hung on the wall in the school hall. The art competition. After having accomplished the project, on art competition connected with the wayside shrines was introduced to students.

13 Conclusions Some students decided to take care of the neglected wayside shrines in the local area. Some students decided to take care of the neglected wayside shrines in the local area.
