5 The Pattern of Baptism “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved”

6 It’s a burial Baptism comes from the Greek word “baptidzo” (  ). Baptizw literally means “I immerse or bury.” Therefore, Baptism is a burial not a sprinkling or pouring upon. The Pattern of Baptism

7 Burying doesn’t mean sprinkling or pouring “I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight” (Gen. 23:4) The Pattern of Baptism

8 The Death Burial and Resurrection “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Rom. 6:4) The Pattern of Baptism

9 Baptism is a burial. The NT does not teach sprinkling or pouring is baptism. Baptism re-enacts the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ.

11 To Save “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:” (I Pet. 3:20) The Purpose of Baptism

16 To save. To unite with Christ. To obey the gospel, which is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. To be put into Christ and His church. To put on Christ. To wash away sins.

17 The Power of Baptism “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved”

18 The blood of Christ “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7) The Power of Baptism

19 Contact the blood through baptism “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?” (Romans 6:1) The Power of Baptism

20 God is the one working “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” (Col. 2:12) The Power of Baptism

21 The power is in the blood of Jesus Christ. Baptism brings an alien sinner in contact with the precious blood of Christ. Baptism is a work of God.
