3 P rocedure: Step 1 Revision Check the homework exercises. Step 2 Lead-in 1.A song about the topic we’ll learn today. “ Earth song ” by Michael Jackson (Because it is too long, play it before the class begins.) 2.Some pictures.(show them to the Ss on the screen) Picture 1: an earth with a smiling face (she used to be happy) Picture 2: an earth with a crying face (she is sad now) And ask the Ss why she is sad now.

4 3.Some more pictures in pairs as comparison. Pair 1: the sea used to be clean and the beach is beautiful but now they are seriously polluted. Pair 2:green grass and thick forests but now only deserts left Pair 3: the sky was blue and clear but now there are a lot of smoke in it and it is no longer blue and clear. 4.Some short videos about different kinds of problems the earth has, including the three mentioned in the lesson – earth problem, air pollution, and water pollution.

5 Step 3 Presentation The teacher's brief introduction: Today we will deal with the three most serious problems the earth has --– earth problem, air pollution, and water pollution. 1.Pre-reading silently Give the Ss a few minutes to go through the passage as quickly as possible and try to find out the causes and results of the problems. 2.while-reading Passage1: a. Show the Ss a pictures and ask what can be found in it. (The area of the desert of the world is very large and it is growing every year.)
