2 What is ICT? Using ICT (Information and Communications Technology) describes the ability to handle and communicate information, solve problems, pose questions and be creative through the use of technology.

3 ICT Requirements Using ICT, along with Communication and Using Mathematics, is one of the three statutory Cross- Curricular Skills that form part of the Northern Ireland Curriculum. Children will be given a level which will be reported to parents at the end of Key Stage 1 (Primary 4) and Key Stage 2 (Primary 7).

4 Assessing ICT Children are assessed in 5 areas: Evaluate Exhibit Express Exchange Explore

5 Explore is about researching and finding information and solving problems using ICT Explore

6 Express is about pupils being creative, developing and presenting their ideas using text, sound, music and still or moving images. Express

7 Exchange is about communicating with others online to share and develop ideas.

8 Evaluate is about pupils thinking about how they carried out an activity and how they might improve on what they did.

9 Exhibit is about managing and showcasing work digitally

10 How we are supporting children Increased use of ICT across all subjects (investing in a range of ICT programmes such as Mathletics, Spellodrome, ALTA, Lexia and wider range of ICT equipment) Virtual Learning Environment Online assessments Those who have no access at home – where possible extending use in school / encouraging use of library
