Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) Pd.1 Math

Definition Numbers multiplied by factors.

Formula/Example find the lowest common multiple for, 4 and 6. 4= 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 6= 12, 18, 24 The lowest common multiple for 4 and 6 is 12.

Question Mr. Imamura told Chloe that the lowest common multiple (lcm) of 72 and 18 is 72 Cheyenne says he is wrong. Figure out if Mr. Imamura or Cheyenne is correct.

Solution 72= 72, 144 18= 36, 54, 72, 90, 108, 126, 144 Mr. Imamura is correct because 18 multiplied by 4 is 72! I found my answer by adding 18 by itself till I hit 72.

Benchmark MA.6.1.2: Explain and give examples of number theory concepts (e.g., prime factorization, common factors, greatest common factor, common multiples, least common multiple, divisibility)

Credits Connected Mathematics 2 Grade 6.

Thanks for watching have a great and fun day!
