1  Main charity associated with UCLH  £100m funds  Grants - £6m for UK’s first PET/MR scanner  Providing facilities – Cotton Rooms patient “hotel”  £1.5m for “Making a difference together” project  Trustees meet 4 times per year to award grants  Ring-fenced funds for specific wards and departments UCLH Charity (Registered Charity No. 229771)

2 Ring-fenced funds  641 active ring-fenced funds  Most people support us because of their own experience  Donations are ring-fenced for specific ward, department or condition  Expenditure is decided by senior clinical staff  Over and above what NHS should do For example, the ultrasound department encourage donations for the additional scan photos (for grandparents, work etc!) which go into their charitable fund. That fund bought a machine to warm the ultrasound gel – to make the scans more comfortable for patients.

3 Ongoing projects  £20k pa for education for nurses  £30k pa for education for non-medical staff  Celebrating Excellence Awards  Long Service Awards  £25k pa to The Friends of UCLH for small grants The Friends of UCLH is a separate membership charity, for which the annual subscription is £10. These subs, plus the £25k from UCLH Charity, and other donations and fundraising, contribute to a large number of smaller projects around the hospital.
