2  Occupational Therapy is a healthcare profession that helps people across the lifespan participate in the activities they want and need to do in everyday life. (AOTA, 2015)  An Occupational Therapist teaches people to increase independence in areas of activities of daily living, work and leisure. (AOTA, 2015) What is Occupational Therapy?

3  School Based/Pediatrics: helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations.  Rehabilitation/Hospital Based/Orthopedic: helping people recover from injury to regain skills. (Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Heart Conditions, Respiratory Diseases, Fractures, etc.)  Mental Health Occupational Therapy Settings

4  Productive Aging: Dementia, Alzheimer, Managing Arthritis, Home Modifications  Work/Industry: Improving the fit between the workplace, the job tasks and the environment. Continuation:

5  Evaluations (school, hospital, nursing home, home, job sites etc.).  Develop treatment programs to improve ability.  Adaptive Equipment Recommendations and Training.  Education to family, caregivers, school staff. Occupational Therapy Services
