11 US IT Industry  Digital Planet 2002 Report: Some key findings –Global ICT spending grew from $2.3 trillion to $2.4 trillion in 2001 –Developing world outpaced the developed in ICT growth –China is the fastest growing ICT nation, 27% in 2001 –Internet had 522 million users worldwide in 2001, up 123 million from 2000 –B2B and B2C E-commerce grew 79% between 2000 and 2001

12 US IT Industry  Digital Planet: US Key Facts 2001  U.S. remains world leader in aggregate 2001 ICT spending with $812.6 billion  IT Hardware Spending: $136,051 billion  Software Spending: $96,556 billion  IT Services Spending: $199, 203 billion  Telecommunications Spending: $265,954 billion  ICT spending per GDP: 7,9%  ICT spending per Capita: $2,924  Internet Commerce % of Total Commerce: 0.8%

13 US IT Industry  Digital Planet 2002: US IT Market  U.S. accounts for 40% of worldwide B2B and 56% of B2C spending. But other countries are moving up fast. China online B2B spending is 60 times what it was in 1999  The U.S.grew less than 1% in 2001.  ICT as a percentage of GDP dropped in the U.S. from a high of 8.2% in 1999 to 7.9% in 2001, suggesting that the ICT industry in the U.S. is losing ground faster than the economy as a whole.
