6 Offices and Bottling Plants  Coca Cola is investing to improve our energy efficiency by investigating and supporting market development for renewable power  Coca Cola has discovered practices which can improve energy efficiency in company operations by more than 10%, and prevent about 500,000 metric tons per year of greenhouse gas emissions

7 Fleet and transportation  Energy is used by 200,000 vehicles to transport ingredients, packaging and finished beverages  Fossil fuels provide the bulk of their energy, but supports market development for renewable power  developed an Energy- Efficiency Guidance Manual that includes best practices which can improve energy efficiency in our operations by more than 10%, and prevent about 500,000 metric tons per year of greenhouse gas emissions

8 Global Awareness and action  Actions taken Launched multi-stakeholder initiative called “Refrigerants, Naturally!” in 2004 encourage environmentally friendly cooling technologies and to address global climate change through promotion of HFC-free alternative refrigeration technologies that protect the Earth's climate and ozone layer Partnership with WWF to reduce energy consumption and climate footprint Signed the UN’s Global Compact's "Caring for Climate: The Business Leadership Platform." which is a global call to businesses and governments to speed up action on climate change committed to engage our global supply chain to work toward the common objective of advancing practical climate change solutions

9 Recent actions (in 2007)  increased the penetration of Energy Management System, EMS-55, which can reduce energy consumption up to 35 percent  By the end of 2007, over 500,000 of these EMS-55 units were shipped into the Coca-Cola system  combined annual energy reduction is estimated to be more than 650 million kilowatt-hours, with a corresponding greenhouse gas reduction of over 350,000 metric tons

10 Actions the company has planned/is planning to take to battle global climate change New environmental policy for cold drink equipment  Expanding research in development of more environmentally friendly equipment  No longer purchasing new cold drink equipment using hydro fluorocarbons when cost efficient alternatives are available (for to both refrigerant gases and insulation)  There will be specific time schedules to use only HFC free foam insulation and refrigeration Wants to create new equipment that is 40- 50 percent more energy efficient than today's

11 Outline of actions planned to take transitioned to HFC-free insulation for new purchases of sales and marketing refrigeration equipment  This new equipment generates 75% fewer direct greenhouse gas emissions as compared with traditional sales equipment significant research and development investments to identify a cost-effective commercial solution to refrigerant gas using carbon dioxide technology to help reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions from refrigerants  (Carbon dioxide is a natural refrigerant that is HFC-free, has less direct climate impact and improves energy efficiency under typical operating conditions)
