Workshop Modules 1. Overview of Roadway Safety Management 2. Working with Crash Data 3. Network Screening 4. Diagnosis of Areas of Interest 5. Selecting Countermeasures 6. Tool Demo and Resources 7. Funding Sources 9

Module Content Modules content need more time than available today We provide you with a complete set of slides Each module can be modified by you as needed, for future workshops 10

Benefits of Workshop at LTAP Provide training and presentation materials for use by any LTAP centers hosting similar training events Provide our contacts for LTAP centers who may need a subject matter expert to deliver the program 11

Workshop Learning Outcome (1) Use a baseline knowledge of crash data, crash reports and safety terminology to extract actionable information. Execute the components of the “Safety Management Cycle” for a local agency given a variety of levels of data. Explain the significance of the Highway Safety Manual (HSM) with respect to higher level data intensive analysis 12

Workshop Learning Outcome (2) Use a number of analytical techniques of varying complexity to determine safety countermeasures. Outline the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of analytical techniques. Effectively use published crash reduction factors (CRFs) or crash modification factors (CMFs) 13
