Ten money saving tips for teenagers

1. Use Coupons On your phone, there are apps for stores and fast food chains, most of these apps have a coupon section. Whether it be the 711 app or the McDonalds app, a couple dollars here and there adds up to a lerger sum of money

2. Do I need this? Before you buy something, think, will I use this in a month, a year? Most of the time if the answer to these questions is no, then you are buying something you will use once or twice then never use again. Get value for your dollar, make sure you aren’t wasting your money on useless things.

3. Make sure you get the best deal When you are making a bigger investment such as a new baseball glove or basketball shoes etc. Make sure you look online for the best prices and deals and look for sales. I know with sports apparel, online there is always different prices at different stores, usually the gap between the most expensive and the cheapest price is around $45 for basketballs shoes. You can save that much money by just looking something up before you go to the store and buy it.

4. Spending limit When I go out with friends, I will give myself a limit of money to spend depending on where we are going. If we are going to a mall I’ll make my limit $10 (lunch). It’s easy to make a limit nut sticking to it is very important. You will find your spending goes way down when you think about how much you are spending. This has helped me a lot personally keep my spending down.

5. Take every money making opportunity When you have a chance to make money, do it. Building up a large sum in your bank account is important for your adult life. Don’t be lazy and say you don’t feel like working, While you’re young and have time, take advantage of opportunities to pad your bank account

6. Money Diary On the Notes section of your phone, write down everything that you buy and the price. At the end of the month, check the list out and see what was a quality buy and what wasn’t. This will help you make more informed decisions when buying. Also you learn from your mistakes and don’t make the same boneheaded buy twice.

7.Pay yourself Each month, set aside spending money for the next month and put the rest in a savings account. You will get interest money from the bank and your balance at the bank will grow. If you set aside spending money for the month, you are conscious of how much you spend.

8. Don’t buy from the Cateteria I know packed lunches are boring and don’t taste as good as cafeteria food but it saves a lot of money. Cafeterias are bad for your body and for your wallet. The cost of buying a $9 meal from the caf every day adds up to be a lot more than you’d think. My advice is that give yourself a cafeteria day every second Friday as a treat but no more than once every two weeks.

9.Keep your money organized Make sure you have a wallet or an organized place for your money. The worst way to burn money is by losing it because you don’t get anything in return for the money you’re losing. Last year I found $125 on the floor at school just lying there from people who dropped their money. That’s a lot of free money. Think about it, do you really want to let some stranger take your hard earned money? When you drop money you’re practically giving it away. So be organized with you money.

10. Sell old clothes and toys We all have that pile of old clothes and toys in our room that just sits there and gathers dust. Instead of letting it take up closet space, sell your things. There are convenient sites such as craigslist where you can easily sell old unwanted items to people who need them and make cash out of it.

The End Thanks for reading my powerpoint and I hope you learnt a bunch of new ways for you to save yourself some money.
