2. Marie’s Family Marie Curie was born as Maria Sklodowska on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw, Poland Her parents are Bronislawa Sklodowska and Wladyslaw Sklodowska When she was little, living in Poland, her nickname was Manya She was the youngest of five children: Zosia, Bronia, Helena, and Jozef

3.  Marie had a deep love of learning  Her sister Bronya taught her the alphabet  She began to read at the age of four  She finished secondary school at the age of fifteen  She joined a local student group of revolutionaries called the Floating University (who were against Soviet rule)  She left home to work as a governess at nineteen.

4. Marie’s Marriage TThey were married on July 26, 1895. TTheir first child, Irene, was born in 1897. Marie Curie IIn 1903 Marie and Pierre lost a child, born prematurely. OOn December 6th, 1904 their second daughter, Eve, was born. PPierre was killed suddenly in 1906 when he was run over by a horse- drawn carriage on a Paris street.
